Welcome! Here at the Cognitive Development Project, we are investigating how children learn make sense of the actions and speech of the people in the world around them. In our playroom on the campus of Villanova University, we create situations that are safe and fun for children, and then we watch carefully to see how they react. By studying the way babies behave in different situations, we learn more about how their minds work. We believe that our research will ultimately help parents and teachers understand the best ways to help children grow up happy, healthy, and smart!

We need you and your baby to join our research team! We are looking for parents and infants (2 months to 24 months) who are willing to visit our playroom for an hour or less to watch a short movie or play with some new toys. You would remain with your child at all times, and everything about your visit would be kept strictly confidential. Babies love to participate because they get to play with new toys, they get lots of friendly adult attention, and they even get an official Research Team t-shirt! For more information or to schedule a visit, contact Dr. Rebecca Brand at 610.519.4749. To find out more about the research, click here to read a brief description, or email to request recent papers written by our lab group. Students: Are you interested in becoming a research assistant? Joining our team is a great way to get hands-on experience. Research assistants have the chance to explore developmental psychology by contributing to on-going research projects. Click here for more information on how to apply. If you have questions, contact Dr. Rebecca Brand at 610.519.4749. |
